Why use a password manager?

Reusing the same password everywhere or writing down your credentials in a file is risky. A manager like 1password generates unique, strong passwords, stores them encrypted, and fills them in automatically on websites and apps.

Installing and setting up 1password

1password is available on desktop, smartphone, and browser. After installing, create an account (you'll be asked for a secret key and a master password). Never lose this secret key: without it, your data cannot be recovered.

Creating a vault and adding your credentials

Organise your logins in vaults (personal, work, shared). For each site, save the URL, username, and password. 1password can generate long, random passwords for you — use this option wherever possible.

Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA)

On services that support it (social networks, banking, email), enable 2FA. 1password can store your TOTP codes and display them at login time, further strengthening security.

In summary

By switching to a password manager like 1password, you greatly reduce the risk of hacking due to weak or reused passwords. Get into the habit of using it for all your accounts and keeping your master password safe.
